To do the reverse card trick, you need to prepare the deck ahead of time. Place the cards in reverse order at the bottom of the deck and return them to the box. This gives the impression that you are opening the deck for the first time. The following will show you another way to do this trick if you cannot prepare the deck of cards beforehand.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Deck of cards
  1. Step 1

Take the deck of cards out of the box or pick up the deck of cards. Place the cards in one hand.

  2. Step 2

Distract your friend by looking into his eyes and maintaining eye contact as you talk to him. Shift his focus off of the deck so he does not see what you are about to do next. One good way to distract him is to shake his hand as you tell him you are going to do a card trick for him.

  3. Step 3

Put your thumb on top of the card on the top of the deck.

  4. Step 4

Flip the top card around the deck and onto the bottom, while your friend is distracted, so that the face of the card is facing upward–opposite all the other cards.

  5. Step 5

Tuck it in the bottom of the deck. Now your card is in reverse at the bottom of the deck and in place for the trick.

  6. Step 6

Ask your friend to pick a card from the deck spread out in your hands and continue the trick in the normal manner.

Tips & Warnings
  • When spreading out the cards for your friend to choose a card in the reverse card trick, make sure that he cannot see the reversed card at the bottom of the deck.
