Disc golf is a sport that combines the principles of golf with the mechanics of throwing a Frisbee. Instead of aiming for holes, you throw your discs at different baskets throughout a course. And just like in golf, there are many types of putting techniques. Here's how to turbo putt in disc golf.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Putting disc (players use different sizes like clubs)
  • Target or basket
  1. Step 1

Place your thumb on the underside of the disc in the center. Most discs have a little divot for just this purpose. Place your thumb in the divot.

  2. Step 2

Wrap the rest of your fingers around the edge of the disc. Be sure to keep your fingers loose. You do not want to clamp on the edge too tightly.

  3. Step 3

Face the basket and hold your arm out to the side with your elbow up so that the disc and your head are about the same level.

  4. Step 4

Step and throw the disc toward the basket. When turbo putting you always want to make sure your foot is pointing toward the basket. (This is the same way a baseball pitcher must always make sure his foot is pointing toward home plate.) Also, as you release the disc slightly, snap your wrist. This move will release the disc and send it flying toward the basket in a straight path.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use the turbo putt when you have an obstructed path to the basket. For instance, when bushes are impeding your path.
  • If you love the idea of getting outdoors, but do not have the clubs or cash to hit the golf course, go to your local state park and make your own disc golf course. All you need are a few Frisbee and objects around the park (such as the outside of trash cans) as targets.
