How to Make Outside Circle Cuts With Tile Saw

Use a tile saw to make circle cuts in tile or marble. A tile saw keeps the blade cool with water and is a great tool to use for cutting tile. If you don't have a tile saw, you can rent one for the weekend. If you have difficult cuts to make in tile or marble, the tile saw will save you time, money and aggravation.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Mark the tile to be cut with a marker that won't fade out with the water from the saw. Make sure the mark is dark enough to be seen through the water while using the tile saw.

  2. Step 2

Make several smaller straight line cuts first so the tile saw blade gets close to the mark on the tile. This will remove larger portions of the tile before a circle is cut. If you don't remove the edges from the tile, they can break off and ruin the whole tile. Cut close to the mark when removing the edges, but don't cut at the line until the edges have been removed.

  3. Step 3

Move the tile to the tile saw to begin cutting the circle. Start the cut at a straight edge and slowly feed the tile into the saw. Move the tile into the saw, using the mark to guide you. Continue to guide the tile until the tile is cut in a circle.

Tips & Warnings
  • Always make sure you wear eye protection when using a tile saw.
  • Always wear ear protection when using a tile saw.
  • Use a grinder to smooth rough edges if necessary.
