The talent competition is an important component in the scoring of a beauty pageant. Most modern pageants put a heavy emphasis on a contestant's ability to perform before a crowd and display confidence while singing, dancing, acting or playing an instrument. Select the appropriate talent, practice until it is perfect and you can achieve high scores in talent.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step1
Discern what you are truly talented at. If you are a trained dancer, singer or musician, stick to your training. If you feel your talent needs something extra to make a good impression, add a gimmick or additional aspect to your routine rather than changing talents entirely.
Step2
Practice your talent act vigorously. Daily rehearsal prior to the pageant will allow you to focus on stage presence during your talent number. If you are still trying to remember the technical aspects of your talent during your performance, you run the risk of making mistakes or appearing to lack confidence.
Step3
Pay attention to your posture. All contestants, no matter what their talent, should stand or sit with good posture, straight shoulders and their head held high. Looking at the ground or slouching gives the judges and the audience the impression that you don't have much confidence.
Step4
Make eye contact with the judges and interact with the audience. Timid performers won't make eye contact and generally do poorly with audience interaction. Develop these skills to involve others in your act and improve your scores.
Step5
Choose a comfortable costume. Your talent outfit should allow full range of motion of your body and not cause any embarrassing gaps or slips when you move.
