If you like collecting stuffed animals, you will probably love making your own. You have the choice of making any animal you wish or inventing your own pattern. Follow these tips to gather materials needed to make a stuffed animal.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Material
  • Pattern
  1. Step 1

Pick a pattern before you start. You can find stuffed animal patterns at fabric stores, craft stores, department stores and online. You can also create your own pattern by drawing an animal on thin paper like rice paper or tracing paper.

  2. Step 2

Buy material in the colors you need. Follow your pattern when choosing the colors and visit a fabric store to match the colors you need. Take your pattern so you can measure the amounts required.

  3. Step 3

Make sure you buy enough material to make two pieces of the animal pattern. You will be sewing the two pieces together to make the stuffed animal.

  4. Step 4

Go to a craft store to find googly eyes and accessories for clothing like buttons or buckles. You can find these items at fabric and department stores too. You can also buy felt for noses and for the inside of ears.

  5. Step 5

Find batting, a sharp pair of scissors and a fabric pen at a fabric shop. Make sure you pick up a sharp needle and thread in as many different colors as you need to complete your stuffed animal.

  6. Step 6

Get a sewing machine if you don't like sewing by hand or if you plan to sew many stuffed animals. Most large cities have specialty sewing machine stores or department stores that carry sewing equipment.

  7. Step 7

Buy ready-to-go stuffed animal kits that include a pattern, directions and all the material and stuffing you will need to make your stuffed animal. Find these kits at craft stores and online.
