The post production process in stop motion animation consists of removing green screens, adding voices, editing and adding a sound track to the film. Stop motion animation is created frame by frame. This form of animation was made popular by the creation of Claymation.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Sound recording equipment
  • Editing software
  • Stop motion animation film
  1. Step 1

Remove the green screen from all of the frames. Use an editing software such as Fireworks for this step.

  2. Step 2

Add in a background that is appropriate for the animation. Add a picture to the frame and pull the animation forward in the software's "Arrange" feature.

  3. Step 3

Edit the video with video editing software such as Final Cut Pro. This allows you to remove or add frames depending on your liking.

  4. Step 4

Record the voice-over or soundtrack for the video. Choose to record the sound all at once and apply it to the frames or to record the sound frame by frame.

  5. Step 5

Save and render the stop motion animation. Make a copy of the saved video on an external hard drive or a disk to ensure that if anything happens to the computer that the animation is not lost.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you do not have sound recording equipment hooked to your computer, there are many different sound studios that rent space and equipment. Another option is to borrow or use a friend's sound equipment.
