The Akai MPC 2000xl is an audio production center that allows you to create, edit and produce unique beats and sounds. Akai was created in 1984 and has produced quality equipment ever since. The Akai MPC 2000xl makes chopping and slicing samples and beats easier than years past.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Load the sequence or sample the Akai MPC 2000xl before you begin to chop or slice. Press "Record" and "Save" to load a sequence. Samples are already loaded in the machine.

  2. Step 2

Press "Shift" and "Trim" to bring up the chopping and slicing menu in the display. A list of sequences and samples pre-loaded on the MPC appear in the menu.

  3. Step 3

Pick the sample you want to edit. This pulls up the sample and turns it into a wave bar.

  4. Step 4

Manually chop the sample or sequence. Click "Edit" and choose the start and end points with the cursor. This deletes anything before or after the start and end points.

  5. Step 5

Slice the sample or sequence into many small pieces. Pull up the Zone Menu. Choose the number of times you want the sample sliced.

  6. Step 6

Click the "Do it" tab on the screen. The MPC 2000xl processes the slice or chop. This may take up to 30 seconds to complete. Once finished, choose "Load." This places the sample on the pad.

  7. Step 7

Press the pad to listen to the chopped or sliced sample or sequence.
