A combination of Latin music and dance styles such as merengue and salsa, as well as modern hip-hop, reggaeton is characterized by its sensual lyrics and gyrating dance moves. First made popular among young Latinos in the 1990s, reggaeton is now sweeping dance floors across America. The rubber legs dance move is just one of many that you can add to your reggaeton routine today.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Practice keeping your movements as smooth and fluid as possible, both in the rubber legs movement as well as other reggaeton dance steps, as this style is famous for the elastic-like appearance of dancer's bodies. Work on each step slowly, and as you master the move, begin working on dancing to the beat of the music.

  2. Step 2

Step out to the right so that your legs are spread just a bit further than shoulder width apart. As you are stepping, lift the opposite arm to about waist level, crossing your forearm in front of your body, to add a bit of style to the move.

  3. Step 3

Bring your knees in towards each other after you have completed the step, shaking your knees in two or three times before lifting your left leg and repeating on the movements on opposite side. Continue the rubber leg move, alternating sides.

  4. Step 4

Improvise on the rubber leg movement once you have perfected the basic steps. You can add more intricate movements with your arms, or allow the steps to move you around the dance floor. With time, you will see that reggaeton is a style that allows a great deal of personal style and improvisation.
