Characterized by sensual lyrics and gyrating dance moves, reggaeton is a type of music with its own dance style. First made popular in Latin countries in the early 1990s, this eccentric mix of classic Latin music, dance and modern hip hop genres is becoming all the rage in the United States. The reggaeton dip is just one of many movements you can add to your routine today.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Keep your movements smooth and sensual throughout the dip and other reggaeton steps, as this dance style is characterized by a seemingly elastic quality in the dancer's body. Practice the movements one at a time, and as you perfect them, begin speeding them up to the beat of the music.

  2. Step 2

Begin the move by stepping your right foot out to the side, just a bit further than shoulder width. At the same time, lift your right arm up overhead. The angle of your arm should be such that your hand is directly above your foot.

  3. Step 3

Bend your left knee in slightly, dipping in towards your centerline on the second beat. In the same motion, bend both of your elbows at 90 degrees. Your right arm will come down to that your fingertips point towards the ceiling, your elbow points out to the side and your upper arm is parallel to the floor. Your left arm should also be parallel to the floor with your elbow out, but your fingertips should point to the floor.

  4. Step 4

Repeat the same two steps on the left side on the third beat, stepping your left foot out the left and lifting your left arm. On the fourth beat, allow your right knee to dip in as you bend at the elbows, your left hand up and your right hand down.

  5. Step 5

Continue the dipping motion of this beginner's reggeaton move, practicing each step until you can speed it up into one smooth movement.
