Ballroom dancing is a fun and exciting way to learn some of the most popular social dances. One of the most well-known of these dances is swing dance. Swing dance is comprised of basic moves to get both dancers swinging and some specialty moves designed especially to show off the woman, such as the ladies' left side pass.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Put all of your weight on your left leg, which should be behind your right leg when you're standing still. Use a little attitude and swagger when you shift back on your left leg and look at your partner.

  2. Step 2

Begin the pass by taking two steps forward. The steps should be regular steps forward like you are simply walking forward towards your partner to close the distance between the two of you.

  3. Step 3

Do the first of two triple step sequences after taking two regular steps forward. Walk forward, beginning with your right foot and take three smaller steps in succession counting to three in your head. This triple step combination is the beginning of the turn that will complete the left side pass.

  4. Step 4

Turn on your right foot in the third step of the first triple step sequence. Complete a full turn while still holding hands with your partner so that when you've completed the turn, you're facing in the same direction as when you started.

  5. Step 5

Step back on your left foot once you've completed the turn and complete the second triple step sequence in place. Your weight is on your right foot at the end of the turn so simply step back and put the weight on your left foot to start the triple step, then take the second and third steps of the triple step sequence in place to complete the pass.

  6. Step 6

Maintain your attitude. Finish the left side pass with the same attitude and swagger that you started it with. Complete the left side pass with the attitude that you own the floor and that your partner is showing you off and letting you shine. Your confidence makes the pass look even better.
