Perfect a strong sleeper. Gain the ability to consistently spin the yo-yo in the sleeper position for several minutes at a time. If done correctly, the spin doesn't slow even when the string touches the center of the yo-yo.

  2. Step 2

Straighten the breakaway. Keep a straight, firm string when performing the breakaway. Land the center of a yo-yo in the sleep spin onto the string as part of an intermediate trick.

  3. Step 3

Practice keeping the string away from the side walls of a yo-yo in the sleep spin. Prevent slowing the sleep spin by keeping the string in the dead center of the yo-yo while maneuvering to perform tricks.

  4. Step 4

Select one intermediate level trick to learn. Watch a demonstration and practice at least an hour per day, for a week.

  5. Step 5

Learn a few tricks to perform. Increase the learning pace up to two tricks per week.
