Attaching Military Braids to Secondary Base

  1. Step 1

Set aside the first base, which has the mum and nest attached to it.

  2. Step 2

Attach the plain ribbons to the second backing shield, the one without the mum attached to it. Make sure to attach the ribbons to the bottom of the backing shield so that they will flow downwards from the shield. Attach all ribbons on the side of the backing shield that you plan to glue to the first backing shield.

  3. Step 3

Create or purchase a military ribbon braid that has the colors you want.

  4. Step 4

Place the braid in the location where you want it to be in the flowing ribbons. You can center it, have it on the right or the left.

  5. Step 5

Place one of the braid ends on top of the ribbon end.

  6. Step 6

Use a stapler to attach the braid to the backing shield.

  7. Attaching Military Braids to the First Base

  8. Step 1

Place the nest ribbons and the streaming ribbons onto the first base as usual.

  9. Step 2

Use a stapler to attach the military ribbon so that it blends in with the streaming ribbons. Make sure that the staples are able to be covered by the mum once it is attached.

  10. Step 3

Place hot glue or quick drying glue around the stapled areas and on the base.

  11. Step 4

Insert the mum's stem into the hole in the center of the base and press down.
