Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Determine the type of material the pants are made of. This will be helpful when choosing the materials needed to hem pants.

  2. Step 2

Choose a proper thread. Pick a thread that's thick or thin enough to go through the pant's material. Choose the thread color based on whether you want a hidden hem or a noticeable hem on the pants for fashionable contrast.

  3. Step 3

Locate the sewing needles. The thickness of the pant's material will help determine the size of the sewing needle. Remember the eye of the needle will need to pass through the material in order to hem the pants.

  4. Step 4

Find the straight pins, or hemming pins as they are also called. These will help hold the pant's material in place once you fold the hem and iron it flat.

  5. Step 5

Purchase a good pair of sewing scissors. These will help you trim off excess pant's material once you finish the hem.

Tips & Warnings
  • Do not use your good pair of sewing scissors on any products other than fabric or materials of the same nature. This will help to keep the blades free of nicks and bends.
