Step 1
Have hair extensions put in your hair, if necessary, if your hair is not long enough to pull back into a ponytail length style.
-
Step 2
Assemble all of the necessary hair tools to create girl's ponytail styles which include a rattail comb, a soft brush, rubber bands and scrunchies.
-
Step 3
Part the hair down the middle from the front of the hairline to the back of the hairline using the rattail comb. The hair should fall to both sides of the face. Brush the hair softly as you gather the hair into one hand. Hold and gather the hair with your fist and then place the scrunchy on the hair. Do the same on the other side. This is called the double ponytail style.
-
Step 4
Brush all of the hair back from the hairline and the nape of the neck brushing towards the center of the head. Gather the hair together and place the scrunchy high up on the hair creating one long ponytail. This is referred to as the high-tail ponytail.
-
Step 5
Braid the ponytail ends on both sides of the double ponytail hairstyle and secure the ends with a rubber band for a different look. Also braid the ponytail on the single ponytail style and secure the end with a colored scrunchy.
-
Step 6
Twist the ponytail ends with a double-stranded twist, securing the ends with a rubber band. You can also twist the single ponytail but instead of twisting one big ponytail, divide the hair up within the ponytail into 3 or 4 sections of hair and double-twist those. This will give you a look of multi-ponytails within one.
-
Step 7
Unbraid and untwist the ends of both the double-twisted and the single-twisted styles and let the ends of the untwisted hair hang. This will give a wavy look and is best achieved after the hair has been twisted and/or braided overnight or for a couple of nights.
