Step 1
Decide how you want to finish the braid off. You can continue to braid the rest of the hair from the nape of your neck to the end of the hair by using a regular braid or a fishtail braid or opt to leave the remaining hair unbraided.
-
Step 2
Leave the end unbraided a little or a lot, making a ponytail at the end of your French braid or go down almost all the way to the end of the hair. You can leave it straight and loose or add something special by curling or crimping the ends.
-
Step 3
Decorate the braid with just about anything you want. Ribbons look great either at the end of the braid or woven into the strands of all or part of the braid. Clips and decorated bobby pins add a touch of color and sparkle. Fresh flowers are also great for dressy events.
-
Step 4
Use any type of rubber band or scrunchie to tie off the braid. Rubber bands come in a variety of different colors and clear, coated and uncoated, small, medium and large. Any of these will work to hold your braid together.
-
Step 5
Tuck under the braid to get it off the back of your next for a more sophisticated look. Take the bottom of the braid and loop it under to the base of the neck. Attach with a larger clip, another rubber band, scrunchie or bobby pins to hide it up under itself.
