How to Do a Flip Hairstyle

If you're looking for something different to do with your hair, then wearing a flip hairstyle is a great way to achieve a young, flirty look. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Choose your look. There are many ways to do a flip hairstyle. What's possible for you largely depends on the cut, length, and texture of your hair. Look through magazines to find examples of flip hairstyles with shapes similar to your own.

    • 2

Make sure your hair is clean. It doesn't have to be freshly washed, but you don't want any product buildup on the hair. A flip hairstyle should be light and airy. Too much product will weigh the hair down.

    • 3

Add a light product. Though you don't want to go overboard, some product is necessary to achieve the look especially if you have fine hair. Go for mousse or spritz. Use something that will add shine and light hold. Avoid anything that will make the hair sticky.

    • 4

Use a curling iron. This is probably the quickest way to do a flip hairstyle. Ceramic irons are better for the health of you hair. Adjust the temperature according to your hair texture. Always use the least amount of heat possible to achieve the look and avoid damaging your tresses.

    • 5

Section the hair. Slide the curling from the top of the section to the bottom bending upwards at the end. If the section is bent instead of curled, then you need to adjust the way the curling iron is facing. Repeat until you've curled all your ends.

    • 6

Style you hair. Lightly brush through the curls to get a polished, manicured look. For a more romantic, tousled look, finger style your hair.
