Making a friendship bracelet is a fun way to pass the time and, as the name implies, it makes a great gift to give friends. You can make all kinds of friendship bracelets, but the most common pattern is the rainbow, a diagonal stripe of repeating colors. You can use any colors you like, just make sure to follow the pattern correctly.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Measure and cut the embroidery floss for your rainbow friendship bracelet. You'll want to make the strands about twice as long as you want the bracelet to be. Cut 6 strands of different colors.

  2. Step 2

Knot your strands together, leaving 1 to 2 inches at the top, and clip the top of your rainbow friendship bracelet to the top of a clipboard.

  3. Step 3

Pick up the first string and loop it over and then under the second string.

  4. Step 4

Make a double knot by holding the second string tightly and pulling the first string upwards to secure the knot. Do this one more time to finish the knot.

  5. Step 5

Tie a double knot on each of the remaining strands, using the first string. Your second string should now be the first on the left.

  6. Step 6

Repeat the process of knotting each strand with the first strand on the left. This should leave you with your third string becoming the first on the left.

  7. Step 7

Keep going until the bracelet is the desired length. You can make each rainbow friendship bracelet a standard size or measure the person who will receive it.
