Being a DJ is the dream of many people. Who wouldn't want the ability to control a large crowd of people with the music they play? If you're new to DJing however, all of the equipment needed and how it is all supposed to go together can seem a bit overwhelming if you don't know what to do. Once you purchase the necessary equipment however, putting it all together isn't as bad as it seems. In a little less than 15 minutes you can be set up and ready to rock the party.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 Industry standard turntables
  • Power strip
  • 1 2-Channel mixer
  • 2 Needles
  • Slipmats
  • Records
  1. Step 1

Assemble your DJ area by placing the equipment in the following order: turntable, mixer, turntable.

  2. Step 2

Plug your turntables into your power strip.

  3. Step 3

Find the phono cords and the ground wire on your turntables. The phono cord looks like regular RCA plug-ins you would find on any DVD player. The ground wire looks like a little wire with a metal plug on the end.

  4. Step 4

Take the phono cords and plug them into the back of the mixer where it says "Phono."

  5. Step 5

Connect the ground wire into the back of the mixer and make sure it is in securely or the sound won't work properly.

  6. Step 6

Set up the mixer and plug it into the wall.

  7. Step 7

Repeat Steps 3 through 5 for the second turntable to complete the DJ setup.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make sure you plug the cords in the phono section and not the section that says "Line."
