Once you've mastered the basic steps of the cha-cha, it's time to put them together. The inside turn is a combo move where the man steps to the side and the woman does the cha-cha in front of him, turning so both partners face the opposite direction from where they started.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Add the fifth position at the end of the inside turn by placing your feet at an angle when doing the basic cha-cha combo, rather than moving directly forward and back.

  2. Step 2

Combine the inside turn with the side step by taking three steps to the left instead of the basic cha-cha steps. Complete the basic moves, but cha-cha-cha to the right.

  3. Step 3

Do the inside turn and chase by dropping your hands but staying very close together. The man walks backward three steps while the woman follows. Then both partners do the basic step, followed by the woman walking backward followed by the man, very close together.

  4. Step 4

Use the inside turn combo to perform a side-by-side. This is done when both partners turn to the same side and hold hands, doing the basic steps in time and returning to their original positions in time to do the basic steps again.

  5. Step 5

Practice adding any of your favorite moves to the inside turn combo. Perform the combinations together so you can review your technique and learn each move with your partner.
