The motorcycle-riding characters you're working on in iClone are looking a bit rougher around the edges than you'd like. The Smooth tool is a great way to edit fine details on your characters in iClone. Here's how to use iClone's Smooth tool so your motorcycle gang and other characters don't look quite so rough.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Import the character you've been working on and save it as a new file name. You don't want your creativity to run away with you and then find out you can't get back to your original work. Make sure it is a character for whom you have previously loaded a scanned image.

  2. Step 2

Zoom into the area of your character that you'd like to smooth. In most cases, this is the facial area, but if you'd like to smooth areas such as the neck, zoom into that area instead.

  3. Step 3

Choose "Texture" from the "Tools" drop-down menu. This will bring up the original scanned image that you imported for your character's face and a selection of tools to edit that image.

  4. Step 4

Select the "Smooth" tool and start smoothing areas that need it. This might include any areas that have harsh shadows, such as under eyes or between lips. You can choose to smooth out wrinkles, laugh lines or grimace lines.

  5. Step 5

Smooth finer details by changing the size of the iClone Smooth tool. Do this if you blend areas around the eyes. This smaller-sized Smooth tool is also great for details of the nose as well.
