Here's how to match a face when you are creating 3-D characters in the iClone animation software.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Open the iClone program. Pull up the picture you want to create a character with by selecting the "Import" option.

  2. Step 2

Click the "Select Face" tool. Draw a box around the face with the cursor. Click on the check mark in the top-right corner of the box. Click "Next." The program crops the picture and shows you what you have in the box.

  3. Step 3

Chose the ethnicity and gender of the character from the pull-down menu on the bottom-left side of the screen. This selects any qualities that are universal for the particular ethnicity and gender.

  4. Step 4

Fit the face in the purple shape iClone chooses. Notice the dots on the top, bottom and sides of the purple oval. Line up the dots with the edges of the face. Click "Next" to match the dots with the face.

  5. Step 5

Preview the outlines that iClone chooses from the information you have given it. Line up anything not set correctly and click "Next."

  6. Step 6

Use the dots in the corner of the eyes to mark the width of the nose. Move them inside the eyes as much as possible. These dots fit the eyes and nose on the 3-D character. Move the line under the nose to just below the nostril. Adjust the size as needed.

  7. Step 7

Adjust any other dots on the face that do not line up. Preview your work.
