Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Observe the kitten's activities. If a kitten with diarrhea remains active, it's a good sign that she is not feeling ill. If the kitten seems sluggish and just not her playful self, she may not be feeling well, and may be suffering from an infection.
Step2
Change the kitten's food. If the kitten was previously eating wet food, then switching to dry food can help with the diarrhea. Sometimes wet food can be too soft and rich for a small kitten to digest properly. Attempt this if the kitten continues to be active and playful.
Step3
Keep the kitten hydrated. When a kitten has diarrhea, he may become dehydrated very quickly. Remember that a kitten is a mere fraction of a human's size and can deteriorate much faster, so you must take immediate, preventive care.
Step4
Take the kitten to the vet if the diarrhea continues for an extended period of time and a food change does not do the trick. A trip to the vet can lead to a thorough exam to rule out a bacterial infection or parasite. A prescription medication can ultimately care for the kitten's diarrhea.
