A more challenging and less commonly performed card trick is known as the reverse card fan. It's the exact reverse of the classic or pressure card fan technique. Although the reverse fan requires different handling, the cards are hidden behind the card directly in front. Become an expert at the reverse fan and gain extra points in card trick competitions.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Deck of cards
  1. Step 1

Hold the deck of cards between the thumb on top and two other fingers on the bottom. Position your fingers toward the top-outside corner of the deck, which is the pivot point for the reverse card fan.

  2. Step 2

Adjust the deck of cards with the bottom or front of the cards facing out toward the audience, and the back facing the performer.

  3. Step 3

Place the thumb of your other hand along the bottom center of the card. This is the long side on the back card, which is the card closest to you, the performer.

  4. Step 4

Use the thumb placement of your other hand to quickly glide the cards one by one in a smooth movement around from the pivot point. Present the reverse fan to the audience.

Tips & Warnings
  • Hand size and range of motion with the thumb determines how many cards can be used for fanning while still keeping all of the cards' face values equally visible.
