There are numerous home remedies to relieve calf muscle pain. Perhaps the easiest to do are stretches. The following steps will help reduce and eventually eliminate the soreness and discomfort associated with calf muscle pain.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Sturdy wall
  • Towel
  1. Step 1

Position yourself near a wall or something sturdy that will support your weight.

  2. Step 2

Place your left foot a couple inches from the wall. The leg should be bent to form about a 45-degree angle.

  3. Step 3

Move your right leg away from the wall. Keep your right leg straight and go back as far as you feel comfortable to get a good stretch of the calf muscle. The intensity of the stretch is determined by how far back the leg is. To prevent additional muscle pain, don't overstretch the calf muscle.

  4. Step 4

Keep both feet flat on the floor as you lean into the wall.

  5. Step 5

Hold that leaning position for about 30 seconds.

  6. Step 6

Relax, then bend the right leg slightly and lean and stretch again. That will work a deeper muscle in the calf.

  7. Step 7

Relax and repeat the above steps with the left leg back.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you're having a hard time getting a good stretch, try placing a folded towel under the foot closest to the wall.
  • This stretching exercise can be used in your regular calisthenics workout plan.
  • Do not overwork a sore muscle.
