Casting bullets can be a fun hobby. Even better than the fun involved is the money you can save. If you cast your own bullets, you can choose from a wide variety of styles, including wad cutters, semiwad cutters and round nose.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Know the economic benefit of bullet casting by figuring the cost of some of the materials involved. Compare material costs with the cost of new manufactured bullets you buy in the store.

  2. Step 2

Save money by casting bullets and get an economic benefit by purchasing several different styles of bullet-casting molds. Get molds that you use most often in your own personal shooting. Often, the most popular cast bullets are hard to find. If you have your own bullet molds in these styles, it saves you money in the long run.

  3. Step 3

Save money by casting bullets for muzzle loaders. Many shooters shoot muzzle loaders year-round. Some muzzle-loader shooters still like to shoot the old-fashioned round ball in their muzzle loaders when target shooting and hunting. These round balls are hard to find unless you go to a specialty sporting goods store.

  4. Step 4

Find the lead that saves you money when you do your own bullet casting. Go to tire stores and ask for old lead weights that come off the tires. You can buy these for next to nothing and melt down the weights for your bullet casting. Buying new lead in bars to melt for bullet casting is much more expensive.
