Things You'll Need:
- Tail comb
-
Step 1
Choose the right size of curlers. Thinner spiral curlers create tighter curls, while thicker ones create bigger curls or waves.
-
Step 2
Get rollers that are the right size. Longer rollers are needed for long hair, since you'll have to twist a lot of hair around the roller. Shorter rollers are right for short hair.
-
Step 3
Separate sections of hair with a tail comb to wrap around the rollers. Depending on how tight you want the curls to be, break hair into approximately 1-inch sections.
-
Step 4
Wrap each section of hair around the roller, beginning with the end. Be sure to get the ends wrapped around tightly so that the tips of your hair are not straight. Tuck the end under the rest of the hair as you twist.
-
Step 5
Bend the spiral roller to fold upon itself and sit securely near your scalp once you have twisted all of the hair around it.
-
Step 6
Use the rollers in wet or damp hair, and allow your hair to dry naturally by sleeping overnight in the soft curlers. This way of curling is the healthiest for your hair.
-
Step 7
Put the spiral rollers in dry hair and apply heat to the curlers once they are in place. Do this with a blow dryer or by sitting in the sun.
