Once you learn the basics of guitar playing, you can play around with many different sounds, from country guitar to blues, jazz and bop. But don't stop there. Learn to play some fun songs, too, like the Super Mario Brothers introduction. This will be a hit with your friends.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step1
Understand the basics of guitar playing before trying to master a new song or riff. This should include all the major chords and proper placement of the instrument in your hand. For beginners, some prefer to sit so they are more stabilized with the instrument, while others prefer to stand so they can see the front of the guitar better.
Step2
Tune your guitar correctly to play the Super Mario Brothers theme. Use standard tuning methods for E, A, D, G, B and E. Go to the first string and work your way through the entire sequence, then repeat this process with the rest of the strings to make sure it sounds all tuned up.
Step3
Start on the tenth fret, middle finger on the next fret and ring finger on the twelfth fret. Pluck the strings three times. That is the first sound. Then place your pinkie on the thirteenth fret and play that note with your last finger. Play it four times and then the last string once.
Step4
Move up an octave by going to the twelfth and fifteenth frets. Play them together, then move an octave down and play those together. This is the first part of the Super Mario Brothers theme song. Play it through slowly a few times to get the sound down, then speed it up to match the tempo of the song. Once you have this down, you can play the verses of the song.
