Bread-making can be a very creative and satisfying process, once you get the hang of it. Adding flour and kneading the dough correctly is a good step to a bread loaf that is not too thin or thick, and also light and tasty.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Flour
  • Milk
  • Salt
  • Oil
  • Honey
  1. Step 1

Get a large mixing bowl, preferably 3-5 quarts. Start with yeast and water mixture, 1 2/3 cups of milk, 2 teaspoons of salt and 2 tablespoons of honey. Stir until well mixed and add two tablespoons of oil.

  2. Step 2

Begin by measuring three cups of flour. Add each cup one at a time, mixing it in each time. Stir until the mixture becomes smooth. Keep adding cups of flour until the dough becomes stiff, and has a stretchy, glutinous texture.

  3. Step 3

Keep stirring and adding flour one cup at a time until the dough is thick, but smooth and without lumps. Scrape the sides of the bowl as you stir to gather up all the ingredients and mix them thoroughly into the dough.

  4. Step 4

Work the flour into the dough until it is too thick to stir. At this point, put the spoon aside and begin to knead the dough by hand.

Tips & Warnings
  • When it's time to start kneading by hand, place the dough on a clean smooth surface that is lightly floured so the bread will not stick.
