Things You’ll Need:
Step1
If you take your family to the zoo, chances are they have lots of various animal species - so if collecting stuffed animals are of interest to you....Check out the gift shops - they may have soft plush variations.
Step2
Try looking at local museums. They tend to have unique puzzles, collectable figurines, and sometimes even rocks resembling your favorite collectible item.
Step3
Don't forget about flea markets and garage sales. Here are some of the items I have collected (in the shape of or featuring a penguin): wine bottles, Fisher-Price ice cream maker, needle-point decorations, Christmas ornaments, soap dispenser, oven spoon rest, magnets, plates, bowls, wine bags, sweat shirts, t-shirts, pajamas, slippers, etc.
Step4
Look for antique items. These you may find at an antique shop or estate sale.
Step5
Don't forget about online options such as Amazon, Craigslist, and eBay.
Step6
Search your local paper in the Classifieds for items of interest that are for sale.
Step7
If collecting animals, look to cartoon characters that resemble your favorite. Since I like penguins, years ago I collected Opus cartoon strips from the newspaper.
