How to Enter a Baby Photo Contest

All parents want to show off their adorable baby, and you can find many baby photo contests worldwide if you want to show yours off. If you want to enter one, take the time to read all the fine print so your baby has a chance to win.

1. Pick a photo of your baby that shows her true personality and meets the contest category. A photo that shows your baby's face is best, as that better shows off her personality to the judges. You can crop the picture to make her face the focal point.
2. Read the rules of the contest to ensure you meet all the requirements. Photo contests often have age limitations and requirementst aht the picture be taken within a particular time frame. Contests also require specific print or file sizes.
3. Decide whether you want to enter free contests or go with ones that have a fee. If the fee is high the prize should be bigger to rationalize the expense.
4. Research the contest's previous winners. Try to make your photo unique from the last winners. Anything too similar might not be favored by judges.
5. Meet all entry deadlines to ensure that your photo is accepted.

Tips & Warnings

• If a contest tells you to label the back of a print, make sure that the ink is dry before you put it in the envelope. If the ink isn't dry, it may smudge and not be legible.
• When the contest rules name a few sizes of photos that are admissible, send the largest size that's allowed.
• Some contests allow you to submit a photo via email or a print via regular mail. It is sometimes better if you send a print. Email files can be difficult to open and may frustrate the judges.
