There are certain words in the English language that sound way different from what they mean. For instance, glomp. Glomp is actually an acronym-- G.L.O.M.P.--and is a popular greeting among anime fans the world over. Here are some tips on how to glomp a friend or loved one at your next social gathering.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Grab a friend or loved one with an element of surprise in it. The "G" at the start of the word stands for "grab."
Step2
"Latch on" to your friend or loved one. These two words are what the "l" and "o" stand for in the word glomp.
Step3
Maintain pressure on your friend or loved one for an embarrassingly long time. The final two letters in the word "m" and "p" stand for maintain pressure. This is what separates a hug from a glomp, because the embrace just doesn't seem to end. Usually people end up laughing, almost becoming ticklish to a degree.
Step4
Glomping is done with the utmost affection and respect. It is never mean- spirited or hurtful. Some people target the neck area when they glomp. They also approach it from a running start. If you are glomping in this manner, be extremely careful of your friend's neck.

Tips & Warnings

  • Some people (usually guys) tackle each other to the ground. Think of this the same way young boys play wrestle with each other. Again, there is no bad intent, merely good-natured fun.
  • If you glomp someone and they start to feel pain, stop immediately.
