How to Curl Eyelashes Without an Eyelash Curler

Contributor
By eHow Contributing Writer

Eyelash curlers often leave your lashes with an unnaturally crimped appearance, and if you aren't careful, can even yank the eyelashes out by the roots. There is a safer and more natural way to curl the lashes without an eyelash curler. Here's how.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Mascara
  1. Step 1

Apply a coat of mascara to the eyelashes. Hold the mascara wand parallel with your eyelid and starting at the root, move the mascara slowly to the tips of the lashes. Apply the mascara in a rolling movement to help separate the lashes. Allow the mascara to dry completely.

  2. Step 2

Apply a second coat of mascara and allow it to almost completely dry and still partially damp.

  3. Step 3

Warm your fingers by rubbing them together and push the eyelashes up with the tips of your fingers. Hold your fingers against your eyelashes for about 15 seconds. Repeat until your lashes have the desired amount of curl, rewarming your eyelashes if necessary.

  4. Step 4

If you have cold hands, run hot water over them for about 15 to 20 seconds. The warmer your hands, the easier it will be to curl your eyelashes.

  5. Step 5

If you have difficulty curling your eyelashes with your fingers, try using the bowl of a spoon. Just warm the spoon in hot water and dry it, the push the curved part of the spoon against your lashes. Be sure the spoon isn't hot enough to burn your skin.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can curl your eyelashes without mascara, but the curls won't last as long.
