5. Check the seller's method of payment acceptance. Many go through PayPal, which is easy to sign up for and offers you extra protection. Stay away from sellers who want your credit card number or a bank wire.

6. Try purchasing a small "test" item in order to show a new user that researched sellers can be trusted. Pick a seller with high ratings and inexpensive shipping.
