How to Clean an Apple Mighty Mouse

That brand new computer out of the box, all shiny and new without a speck of dirt tarnishing the flawless finish is an image that fades quickly. Inevitably, parts of the device, including the mouse, will begin to look a dingy. Here's how to clean your Apple mighty mouse properly.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

1. Shut off your computer and unplug the mouse from the USB port. Make sure that there is no power going to your mouse before you begin cleaning.
2. Use a clean, lint free cloth to wipe any debris or residue off of the mouse. Slightly dampen the cloth if any residue remains. Don't saturate the cloth. Even though your Apple mighty mouse is unplugged, it can still short out if any water gets inside.
3. Turn your mouse over. If any dirt particles have become lodged inside the scroll ball, rotate the ball and then shake it gently to dislodge the dirt.
4. Run the cloth over the scroll ball. Rotating the scroll ball in different directions, wipe the scroll bar gently with your cloth until you've cleaned all of it.
5. Wipe the underside of your mouse with the cloth, being careful not to knock any dirt into the light sensor area.
6. Dry your mighty mouse with another clean and dry lint-free cloth or towel. If water gets into any of the internal components, allow the mouse to sit for 48 or more hours to make sure it has fully dried before trying to use it again.
