How to Clean a Brace. You may be wearing a knee brace to minimize pain or to provide support after surgery. Regardless of the reason, you'll need to clean your brace regularly to keep it from growing bacteria. Here's a few suggestions on how to keep your knee brace in good condition.
Things You'll Need
- Warm water
- Antibacterial soap
- Nail brush
- Clean towels
- Automotive grease
Create a solution of warm water and antibacterial soap. Place it in a tub or bucket. Use a clean cloth to wipe the brace clean of any dirt or sweat.
Dip a small nail cleaning brush into the basin of soapy water. Use the brush to scrub the brace thoroughly, both on the inside and exterior.
Dampen a soft and clean towel. Use the towel to wipe the knee brace clean of any soapy residue.
Allow your brace to air dry in a location with good circulation and light.
Lubricate the joints of your knee brace with some automotive or red grease.
