Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Paper towels
  • White rags
  • Cleaners and solvents
  1. Step 1

Remove all the clothes from the dryer. Unplug the dryer to avoid electrocution.

  2. Step 2

Apply an all-purpose cleaner to a paper towel and rub the ink stain. Be sure the dryer drum is cool. Clean with several damp paper towels.

  3. Step 3

Assess the cleaner's effectiveness. If the stain persists, soak a white rag with rubbing alcohol or hairspray and scrub the stain. It may take repeated applications to dissolve the ink. Use specialty stain-removing products if these steps don't work.

Tips & Warnings
  • Prevent this cleaning nightmare. Always check pockets for pens before throwing clothes into the washing machine and dryer.
  • Use the least toxic methods first. You will reduce or avoid exposure to toxic fumes.
  • Wash the dryer drum thoroughly after cleaning. Allow it to dry completely before use. Don't forget to plug the dryer back in.
