Chatzilla's default motif is called the "null" motif. It's not very expressive of a user's personality, as its purpose is to remain basic. Luckily, you can change your copy of Chatzilla's motif to better reflect your preferences.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Navigate to the "View" menu and select "Default," "Light" or "Dark" if you don't want to put much effort into changing your motif. These are basic changes included within the program.

  2. Step 2

Visit websites dedicated to free previews and easy access to CSS links (see Resources below). Decide on a motif to try. Drag your preferred motif's CSS link to your running Chatzilla application. Click "OK" when the application asks if you would like to use the CSS file link as your new motif.

  3. Step 3

Copy your chosen Chatzilla motif's CSS URL. In Chatzilla, select "Preferences" under "Chatzilla" and choose the "Appearance" tab. Navigate to the "Current Motif" box and erase its contents. Paste your new motif's URL into the box and click "OK" when done.

  4. Step 4

Paste the CSS URL of a preferred motif into Chatzilla's main window so that Chatzilla's display uses the CSS URL as the default motif of your program.

Tips & Warnings
  • Select "No Motif" under the "View" menu to revert the default motif.
  • Create your own motifs by learning a bit of CSS and HTML. Consider publishing them on the Internet to let others use them.
  • Motifs are not the same as skins.
  • If you are using a CSS URL that is located on a website, modifications by the owner may effect the motif's appearance. Learn how to save the CSS file to your computer and link it to your program to keep the motif stable.
