The next time your buddies are showing off in the pool hall, bring out this 9 ball pool trick that uses all 9 balls. "Part the Red Sea" in this whopper of a pool trick that requires some practice to get the set up just right.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 9 pool balls
  • Cue ball
  • Cue stick
  1. Step 1

Line up balls 1 and 3 so they are in line with the left edge of the nearest side pocket about a third of the way into the pool table.

  2. Step 2

Place the 8 ball tightly against balls 1 and 3 to make a tight triangle. Leave about a ball length going towards the far side pocket.

  3. Step 3

Place the 4 and 5 balls diagonally on the table so they're touching just a little. The 4 ball should be placed off center of the 3 ball. When the 3 makes contact with the 4, it hits about 3/4 of the 4 ball on it's left side.

  4. Step 4

Put the 7 and 9 balls down just like the 4 and 5 spaced about 1 ball length away from the 4 and 5. Visualize a straight line down the center of the table that runs directly between each pair of balls. Form a diagonal pattern, one on each side of the line.

  5. Step 5

Add the 2 and 6 balls on the same diagonal line. Maintain the formation of one on each side of the line, like the other two sets. Place the balls closest to the opposite side pocket.

  6. Step 6

Use medium power to hit the cue ball aimed at the 1 ball. Try to make half-ball contact on the right side of the 1.

Tips & Warnings
  • The triangle of the 8, 1 and 3 balls shouldn't be lined up, down the center of the table like the other pairs of balls. They need to be just off to the side with the 8 ball on the center line.
  • Your goal is to shoot the balls so they spread out leaving a clear path for the 8 ball to go in the side pocket.
