1
Gain some momentum by taking as many running steps as you can. Start with your right foot if you are right-handed, and your left foot if you are left-handed.
-
2
Hop onto your dominant foot and hurtle yourself over, just as if you are doing a cartwheel but with more speed.
-
-
3
Land on both feet at the same time.
-
4
Jump as high as you can from the landing and land on your hands.
-
5
Push off the ground with your hands, allowing the momentum you created with the running steps and the hurtle to drive your legs over.
-
6
Hit the ground with both feet. Maintain momentum by leaping again and tucking your knees, grasping them with your arms.
-
7
Remain in a tucked position as you spin and land on both feet.
-
8
Finish your handspring back tuck in the proper position: arms up, back straight and looking straight ahead.

In your back handspring, you don't jump as high as you can. You jump as far back as you can. If you jump high, it kills a LOT of you power. Also, in the tuck, you don't just tuck and grasp your hands onto them, you set up, bring your knees to your chest, and then bring your arms around and under your knees, pushing you around and finishing the tuck. In back handsprings you want to go OUT, and in back tucks you want to go UP. -
