Step 1
Turn the monitor off, wait a few seconds and turn back on. Most recently manufactured monitors automatically will degauss themselves when turn back on.
-
Step 2
Listen for the distinct twang when the monitor comes on. If you hear it, you know the monitor has degaussed itself. If you don't hear it, then you will have to degauss the monitor manually. You should be able to see the difference in the screen immediately.
-
Step 3
Find the button on the monitor that says "Degauss." Different manufacturers have their own buttons and menus, so look in your manual to find how to get access.
-
Step 4
Search through the menu system when one appears on the screen. You will usually see choices like the size and positioning of the screen, color options and then the degauss option. It often has a ohm icon to distinguish it.
-
Step 5
Listen again for the twangy noise when you select degauss option from the menu. The screen may flick or show an explosion of color.
