Many thermosflask owners have their own special methods to remove the difficult stains often caused by coffee, tea or juice. You can use some common household items to get the job done to your satisfaction.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • White vinegar
  • Water
  • Bottle brush
  • Denture cleaner, Alka Selzer or bicarbonate of soda
  • Eggshells
  1. Step 1

Mix 1 part of white vinegar together with 3 parts of water. Pour the mixture into the thermosflask. Allow the mixture to sit for several hours.

  2. Step 2

Scrub the inside of the thermosflask with a bottlebrush. A baby bottle brush will work also. Rinse the thermosflask thoroughly with warm water.

  3. Step 3

Repeat the process using a higher mixture of white vinegar to water if the stains are still visible.

  4. Step 4

Try an alternative. Fill the thermosflask with warm water and drop in a denture cleaning tablet, 4 Alka Selzer tablets or 1 tablespoon of bicarbonate of soda. Let the mixture soak overnight before rinsing it thoroughly with warm water.

  5. Step 5

Use eggshells instead. Break eggshells into small pieces and put them in the thermosflask. Fill the thermosflask partially with cold water. Replace the cover and vigorously shake the thermosflask for 30 seconds. Rinse the thermos thoroughly.

Tips & Warnings
  • Thermosflasks with glass liners damage easily. Handle them with care.

on 8/31/2008 I have found that the absolute best thing for cleaning my thermos is automatic dishwasher detergent, such as Cascade. Simply place 1-2 tablespoons, liquid or powder, into thermos, and fill with hot water. set aside and let stand for a few hours or overnight. shake and rinse well. It'll look like new, with no scrubbing.
