Attending batting practice provides your best chance of catching a ball at baseball game. Home runs or foul balls may not be retrieved by the batboy and fans can take home any balls they catch. If you're lucky, you might get the ball autographed.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Get to the game two hours before it starts. If you get to the game early enough you may be able to move around a bit during batting practice. You can sit closer to the field or behind the dugout and move back to your own seat at game time.

  2. Step 2

Sit behind the right field line. The majority of batters are right-handed and will foul the ball off to the right field side. If your favorite player is left-handed and you hope to get a foul ball from him go to the left field line.

  3. Step 3

Bring a baseball glove. It may be easier to catch a baseball using a glove than your bare hands. Stay alert. More balls are hit in batting practice than during a game. The pace is faster.

  4. Step 4

Dress the part. Wear a jersey and baseball cap with your team's logo. Paint your face in your teams colors. Looking like a diehard fan may increase the chances of having a player or coach throw out a ball to you during batting practice.

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't go onto the field. Security will likely remove you from the stadium.
  • Don't ask the batboy for a ball. Generally, batboys are not allowed to give balls to fans.
