How to Get a Background on YouTube

You've probably seen other people on YouTube with customized backgrounds in their profiles. Some might even have their own pictures in their profiles. If you've ever wondered how they did it, then you've come to the right place.

        Choose an image. Search Google images or scan an image yourself, save it on your computer and upload it to an image hosting website.

        Select the image you would like to use by clicking on it, if you're using a Google image search. This search shows the full-sized image. Copy the URL in the address bar.

        Log onto your YouTube page. Go to your personal profile page under "My Account." Find "Channel Design" under the "Channel Settings." Select "Advanced Design Channels" to get a background on YouTube.

        Pick a background color from the options or add an image by pasting the address of your image in the Background Image box. Select "Repeat" if you want the image replicated over your entire background. If you'd like the color or image to be more see through, adjust the transparency level.

        Scroll down and click the blue "Update Channel" button. Click on your channel name to view your new YouTube background.

    • Avoid hotlinking, which is when you link to images on other websites without the owners' permission. Get permission first or upload a picture to an image hosting website first.
