Raising money for charity can tax your energy and resources. There are a few ways you can overcome these obstacles and fundraise a truly impressive amount of money for your charity.

1. Join as many local business and social organizations as you can. Belonging to a circle of people who are already active in the community puts you in the right network to fundraise money for charity.

3. Get local press. The community newspaper can publicize your efforts and interview you if you have upcoming charity raising opportunities. Charity is its own kind of business and should always treat it as such.

4. Go to the local government and see if any funds are available to support your charity. Most governmental interests have a budget for supporting community projects that benefits the area as a whole.

5. Work in tandem with other funraising efforts. Often, charities that work together can save on their overhead costs, thereby freeing up more funds for the causes they serve.

6. Target your efforts. Most of your time should be spent on those who have the money and the willingness to make significant contributions.

on 9/29/2009 Great article. A site you should also be aware of is www.donationharbor.com which donates a few cents to charity every time you do a google search. Another free way to donate! My friends and I use it to donate to ASCPA. check it out.

Secondly, find a charity hosting website. Unfortunately, most of them have a high bar for personal fundraise activity (because of credibility).
But the good news is: If you don't want to perform either of steps above, you can refer to http://www.listen2helps.com, which is a free (and tax-free) charity/fundraising programm hosting website. Although it's located in Switzerland, but it support Paypal. Where your request will be viewed by thousands of people from all over the world. Just put your fundraising activity detail on it, and let as many people as possible know this page. Then just wait for fund coming into your account.
And you can also try your luck elsewhere, like www.fundraising.co.uk, just don't remember to advertise your page
