Have fun while performing stunts, but take advantage of a well-padded gym mat for protection. Proper use of a gym mat is as important as performing the stunt correctly. Stunts can be performed from a standing position or from greater heights.

Difficulty: Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Determine the placement and thickness of your mat. Use a thick mat or several mats placed on top of each other to cushion your landing.

  2. Step 2

Place the gym mat where you expect to land after your stunt. If there is a chance that you may miss the anticipated impact area, use more than one mat for assurance.

  3. Step 3

Perform the stunt according to your specific instructions, allowing your body to fall evenly as you execute the stunt.

  4. Step 4

Approach the gym mat at an angle for running stunts. Falling stunts require you to position yourself directly above the mat before executing the stunt.

  5. Step 5

Allow your hands to hit the gym mat first to catch your fall. Some stunts require you to fall in different positions with your hands free. Don't tense up to avoid injury.

Tips & Warnings
  • Pay attention to where you are putting your hands. Your hands allow you to keep your balance and can protect you from injury.
  • You can practice stunts at home by using a mattress to land on.
  • Always know your limitations. As you continue to perform stunts, you can slowly remove some limitations, but stay safe.
