Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
Step1
Check the landing area for thick, fluffy mulch. Spread additional mulch in the area if the ground is bare or the mulch is compacted.
Step2
Look for holes around the jumping area. Fill in holes with dirt and cover them with a thick layer of mulch.
Step3
Remove all debris from the area. Move tree branches, sticks, rocks and other hazardous materials. Look the area over closely for signs of broken glass.
Step4
Inspect the swings for stability and sturdiness. Make sure the seats are securely fastened to the chains. Check the chain links to make sure they are solid and test the stability of the chains where they fasten at the top of the swing.
Step5
Start swinging. Sit forward on the swing in order to launch smoothly when you jump from the swing.
Step6
Practice jumping from the swing at low heights before attempting to jump at full swing. Gradually increase the jumping height until you have reached a level that you feel comfortable with and can achieve good distance when you jump.
Step7
Jump from the swing just before you begin swinging backwards. Completely let go of the chains as soon as you start to jump. Lean forward when you jump so that you fall forward and avoid being hit in the head with the swing.
