Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
- Garden hoe
- Tires
- Seed potatoes
- Topsoil
Step1
Pick a location that will give your plants full sun. Loosen the top layer of the ground with the garden hoe.
Step2
Lay down one tire on your chosen spot and loosely fill up the entire inside with topsoil. Take four seed potatoes and place them 2 inches down in the soil.
Step3
Watch your plants and when they have produced 8 inches of growth add another tire to the top. Fill the tire with topsoil leaving a couple inches of the top of the plant sticking out.
Step4
Repeat this process with the third and fourth tires, remembering to keep the top of the plant out of the soil.
Step5
Remove your potatoes 2 to 3 weeks after the plant has flowered. If you want new potatoes or for matured potatoes, keep them in the ground and dig them up after the foliage has died. Enjoy your homegrown potatoes.
