How to Get Involved With the American Red Cross

The American Red Cross is dedicated to providing assistance to disaster victims, as well as supporting emergency preparedness.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Make a financial donation to your local American Red Cross chapter to provide families who are victims of disaster with basic necessities. Call 1-800-HELP-NOW, donate online at www.redcross.org/donate/donation-form.asp, or mail your check to your local Red Cross chapter (see www.redcross.org to locate the chapter nearest you).

  2. Step 2

    Donate money to go directly to victims of specific disasters in the U.S. HOW IS THE MONEY DIVIDED UP? by sending a check to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund at P.O. Box 37243, Washington, DC, 20013.

  3. Step 3

    Donate money to victims of international crises by sending a check to the American Red Cross International Response Fund at P.O. Box 37243, Washington, DC, 20013.I THINK YOU CAN SEND A CHECK AND INDICATE EXACTLY WHERE YOU WANT THE MONEY TO GO. (CAN YOU OR CAN'T YOU? CAN FIND OUT EXACTLY?--PK)

  4. Step 4

    Volunteer your time. Your local Red Cross chapter can help fit volunteering into your schedule, as well as provide any training necessary. Visit www.redcross.org for the chapter nearest you.

  5. Step 5

    If you are healthy, at least 17 years old and 110 pounds, you can donate blood. Call 1-800-GIVE-LIFE for details.

  6. Step 6

    Make a tissue or organ donation. Call 888-4-TISSUE for information and to obtain a donor card.
