The decision to have sex is an important one that should not be taken lightly. Being ready to have sex is a very individual thing that occurs at different times for each person. Some people decide if they are ready for sex based on their moral and religious beliefs. Others listen to their heads and their hearts to know if the time is right.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

Talk openly with your partner about sex. Create an environment where your partner can feel safe being honest regarding her feelings towards having sex.

  2. Step 2

Listen to your partner's response. If he is not ready to have sex, do not pressure him or force the issue.

  3. Step 3

Pay attention to body language. If your partner is pulling away or trying to walk away, let her go--she is not ready for sex. Never use physical force to coerce your partner into sex.

  4. Step 4

Hear the tone of voice being used to discuss sex. If your partner sounds worried or afraid, slow down. Chances are good he is not ready for sex.

  5. Step 5

Respect your partner's decision regarding sex. Do not try to talk her into it before she is ready. It is never acceptable to make threats or use intimidation to get someone to have sex.
