How to Install the GIMP
The GIMP is a free software program that allows the user to edit photographs and other images. It offers many of the features, such as selective colorization, that are available in high-priced photo-editing software. The GIMP is easy to download and install, and has thorough supporting documentation for future reference.
Instructions

-
1
Go to the GIMP website. The website not only has the GIMP download, but also has all of the documentation on its features and uses.
-
2
Choose the download link on the right side. On the right-hand side of the screen, there is a list of links. Click on the "Downloads" link in order to get to the download files.
-
-
3
Select the GIMP download. This will launch the current version's install window. If any windows appear asking to download and install the GIMP software, make sure to click "Yes."
-
4
Click through the install. Taking the standard route of install is completely acceptable with the GIMP. The standard install loads all necessary files for photo editing and drawing.
-
5
Open up the application. The first time the GIMP runs, it takes a little while to start up. The GIMP loads the necessary files, which can take a minute or so. Be patient--the first time is always the slowest. In the future, it won't take as long to get going.
-
6
Get started. Check the online tutorials at the GIMP website, or view the documentation to check out the many features. The tutorials are easy to follow, and the documentation is clear and precise.

I attempted to download Gimp several weeks ago...got excited when I saw your 'How to'...once I click on download it's still not clear where to go after that. Can you take a look? It seems that something is placed behind the header that I may need to get to. Thanks for the great article and any future help with this. -
